Tungsten Carbide Dies

Wire drawing die application:

Carbide dies are versatile tools suitable for various industrial applications requiring high wear resistance, high hardness and high toughness. Wires drawn using carbide dies usually include steel wire, copper wire, aluminum wire and other metals.

The drawing process can produce wires of various diameters for various applications such as wires, cables, springs and fasteners. During the wire drawing process, the wire is pulled through a series of dies with gradually decreasing hole sizes. The carbide wire drawing die is a part of the wire drawing die that is used to reduce the wire diameter. The carbide die core is in direct contact with the wire and must withstand the high pressure and wear during the wire drawing process.

Advantages of carbide drawing dies:

  • High wear resistance. Generally, the life of carbide drawing dies is more than ten times higher than that of steel dies, and in some cases, it can even be hundreds of times higher.
  • Excellent polishing properties, can process mirror-finished die holes, and the use of carbide dies can ensure the high quality of the drawn metal products.
  • Low adhesion, low adhesion to the processed metal, makes the stretching die have a long life and the quality of the processed metal surface is excellent.
  • Low friction coefficient and high corrosion resistance.

Wire drawing die material grade :

  • YG3X, high hardness, good wear resistance, but low strength and poor impact resistance
  • YG3, wear resistance is second only to YG3X, medium use strength and impact toughness
  • YG6X. Wear resistance is better than YG6, use strength and impact toughness are slightly lower
  • YG6, wear resistance is relatively high, use strength and impact toughness are good.
  • YG8, good wear resistance, use strength and impact toughness are higher than YG6.
  • YG15 has low wear resistance, use strength and impact toughness.

Carbide punch die

Carbide punch dies are precision tools made of carbide materials, used to form metal parts in high-speed, high-pressure stamping processes. They have extremely high hardness and wear resistance and are suitable for complex and high-precision stamping operations.

Advantages:

  • Improve production efficiency: The high wear resistance and high precision of carbide dies reduce the number of mold replacement and maintenance.
  • Compared with steel dies, carbide dies have a longer life and reduce production costs.
  • Improve part quality: The high precision of the mold ensures the dimensional accuracy and surface finish of the stamped parts.

Carbide dies are subjected to great stress during the stretching process, so carbide dies must be sleeved to improve their ability to resist stress and prevent cracking during use. The service life of carbide dies is largely determined by the quality of the sleeve.

The manufacturing and design of carbide stamping dies should take into account factors such as material selection, mold structure, and process flow to ensure the stability and life of the mold.

Application:

Carbide punch dies are widely used in many industries such as automobiles, electronics, aerospace, and medical devices for stamping various metal materials, including but not limited to:

  • Automotive industry: used for stamping body parts, engine parts, and structural parts.
  • Electronics industry: used for stamping precision electronic components such as connectors and plugs.
  • Aerospace: used for stamping complex parts of high-strength alloys.
  • Medical devices: used to manufacture high-precision medical devices and implants.
  • Light industry: used for stamping metal parts of various household appliances

Carbide punch die material grade

  • YG8 has high wear resistance, but low use strength
  • YG8C has low wear resistance, but high use strength
  • YG11C has low wear resistance, but high strength
  • YG15 has lower wear resistance than the above alloys, but high use strength
  • YG20 has low wear resistance, but high use strength
  • YG20C has higher use strength than YG20 and good wear resistance.
  • YG25 has low wear resistance, but the highest use strength.

Carbide extrusion dies and material grade

Carbide extrusion dies include forward extrusion and reverse extrusion dies. When the die is working, the radial force and friction force are relatively large. The use of carbide cold extrusion dies can increase the life of the die and improve the quality of punched parts.

The carbide material used for the extrusion die must have sufficient wear resistance and be able to withstand a certain impact load, that is, it has a certain toughness. The commonly used material grade is YG15.
